This is only happen when i open Microsoft Office document from Network folder. It does not happen when i opened other file type i.e pdf.
I experience this issues only after upgrading to WIndows 8 Pro 8.1. Before this, i never encounter BSOD.

I am using windows 8.1 Pro
Dell Latitiude E6330
My network folder is QNap, using netdrive to connect.

Again, this is only happen after i upgrade to 8.1

Hello All,

Is the Computer on network/domain?

Which Office suite is installed in the Computer?

Do you receive any error message when trying to access Office applications?

Try to open Office application in its application safe mode then check how it works.

To open Word in application safe mode: Click Start > in ‘Search’ bar >type 'winword /safe' (Without the quotes and note the space in the command)

Provide us the detailed information about the issue in order to assist you in better way.

Thank you.

Hi Nayana,

Thxs for the prompt reply! Most appreciated!!

My laptop (Sony Vaio flip SVF 14N1C5E) is not in a domain

It runs on win 8.1,

I have Office 365 (trial version mid-size; we plan to migrate permanently tomorrow)

The office applications work fine if I open files in word , PowerPoint, etc. which are on local drives or SkyDrive.

However I have the majority of my document on a remote NAS (Synology DS209+II), visible to me anywhere via Netdrive application (v1.3.4.0)

I have a colleague also on 8.1 who experiences the same issue

I have a colleague working on 8.0 who does not experience this issue (also working on the same trial version of office 365!)

So my only conclusion is that win 8.1 in combination with netdrive must cause the problem…

I hope this helps to determine solution quickly…
