Atypical bibliography / works cited formatting
I'm trying to do something a little different with the built-in bibliography / works cited functionality in Word 2010. Instead of having the work cited follow a paragraph in quotes as is typical, I need it to follow in-line with the text as follows:
lorem ipsum...et al, in accordance with reference 3.
Reference 3 would then be delineated in the Bibliography or Works Cited section, which would need to be retitled References, and would also need to be numbered, so reference 3 would be the third reference.
Is it possible to set this up so I can automatically refer to sources repeatedly throughout the document, or is there a better way to do this? It'd be nice if it were automatic so I could renumber my references, if necessary.

Here is a "dump" of everything I have on bibliographies. Maybe you can find something that will help in it.

The 6th edition of APA style addresses the increasing commonality of obtaining reference material online. It is very similar to the 5th edition. There are little or no changes in the way you cite print materials. The primary difference is the inclusion of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for electronic sources.

So, I need to write a paper in ASA citation style, and I was able to get a *.XSL file for the style off of a reliable website. I tried adding the style the old fashioned way via dropping the file in:
%local%\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\bibliography\style
with no sucess.
This is sort of a workaround, but if you install Mendeley Desktop (www.mendeley.com) and then go to Tools > Install MS Word Plugin, it will make the ASA style available. It doesn’t put it in the traditional style folder, so I don’t know where it’s going, but it gets the job done. And Mendeley is awesome anyway, so it’s a bonus!

Use that link to get the version that works. I’m on Win8 with Office 2013 (or 365, or whatever it’s called) and it works just fine.
And maybe it’s just me, but is the ASA style not popular enough to merit it’s own entry among some of the terribly obscure reference styles that are built in to Word? I know it’s just a modified Chicago variant, but it’s pretty widely used.
