Microsoft Outlook 2010 Hangs

<Original title - Programs Compatibility Application Microsoft Outlook 2010 Hangs>

I installed Outlook 2010 on my new computer running Windows 7 about 30 days ago. Outlook has been runing fine until this morning and as I try to enter the desktop shortcut icon for Outlook it will not open.

I tried removing the desktop shortcut and then moved a new shortcut to the desktop and that did not work.

I then tried to enter Outlook from the list of programs available from the START menu and that also is not working.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks!!!

Answer
Are you facing this issue only with Outlook?
Open Excel or Word and check the result.
1. Restart the computer and check if the issue occurs.
2. If it fails, start Outlook in safe mode and check if it helps
Click on start->all programs->accessories->run->type->Outlook /safe
(Note: There is a space after Outlook)

If Outlook fails to open in safe, perform a repair Office and check the result:

In Task Manager, Processes Tab, is outlook.exe shown, and if so you end the (all) OL processess (NB if you click on the Image Name header it will sort the processes)

Can you then start OL?
