Word 2007 inserted image size problem

Hi,
I am trying to document a procedure that uses Netstat.
I run Netstat and do Alt Print Screen.
Then I open Paint and Edit > Paste the image
I file save the .jpg file in a  picture folder. It is 6032x4218 pixels.
I open the word document and use the insert picture .
It comes out about 2"x2" much too small to read.
I need help in getting the picture size about 7"x7" so it will fit on one 8 1/2"x11"page with a caption
Thanks
Frank C

Answer

Your problem is caused by two misunderstandings. First, the pixel measurements you quoted for the .jpg file refer to Paint's entire canvas, not to the image of the command window that you pasted into it. Second, those measurements are about 6 times larger than they should be.

After you paste the image into Paint, press Esc to remove the selection box from around the image. Then grab the sizing handle in the bottom right corner of the canvas (the big white area that covers most of Paint's drawing area) and drag it up and to the left until it encloses the netstat image and nothing else.

Now look at the measurements at the bottom of the Paint window, which show the size of the canvas in pixels. If it's much more than about 1000 pixels wide, click the Resize button in the Home tab and change it to something reasonable. (The default width of the command window you copied is probably about 680 pixels, depending on your screen resolution.) Save this image.

In Word, set your margins so that the space between them is the width you want for the picture (default is 6.5"). Then insert the picture, which will automatically be reduced to fit within the margins.
