Typing in Word 2007

In MS Word 2007, I have a list of names going down the page. One name has a blank between it and the next name in the list. When I click that blank space to type in a name, the previous name gets highlighted. Why?

Answer
If that is not the problem, take a look in File menu > Options command > Advanced group.

In the Editing options section you probably have "When typing, automatically select entire word" turned on. It could be that you are clicking close enough to the word that Word thinks you are trying to select the word.
