in a 300+ pages document, whenever i open, try to type,just in the first word once pressing space bar, it shows not responding, and ask me to shut down the program

i have been working for months on this document
it contains figures, equations, bullets and numbers
it is more than 350 pages
first, the problem happened while displaying down the autosave
so i disables the autosave
the problem occured again
i tried saving in different name
the problem showed again
help plz, i am stuck, need to work again on the same document smoothly
temporarily, i created a new document to postpone my work,
now on the new document i am on page 3, no problems at all
does it have anything to do with the fact that it is 300+ pages
if so, what can i do
dividing the document is completely unsatisfactory

note: i am using windows 7 home basic, office 2007 SP3
Try copying everything EXCEPT for the final paragraph mark (¶) in the document and paste it into a new blank document.

my document is not paragraph based, it is heading and numbered based,
plz suggest an alternative

All Word documents contain at least one paragraph mark (¶). Since you are using headings, most likely there are more than one...

Click the ¶ button on the Home tab to see nonprinting marks, including paragraph marks. For more, see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/NonPrintChars.htm.

tried it, still the new document; first took long time after pressing space (after typing one word, at the very bottom of the document, the new bottom after copying as you said) to allow me to work, the next time, not responding

plz help me further
