EQ Field Code Equation Brackets

I am trying to produce square brackets using { EQ \bc\[(something) } with no success. I'm guessing I have a syntax mistake. I can achieve self-resizing parenthesis using, for example { EQ \b(something) }, but square brackets [ ] and braces { } are also useful.

I am avoiding the older and newer equation editors as they have not been ideal for all fonts, printer drivers, and Word settings. Most information about the EQ field code has disappeared.

Answer

You're missing one of the parts of the required syntax. Here's the field code to put expanding square brackets around a built-up fraction:

{ EQ \b \bc\[ (\f(a,b)) }

You need the \b before the \bc secondary code.

You're correct that the EQ field documentation is no longer on the Microsoft web site or in the program Help -- one of many inexcusable lapses. You can find all the EQ switches listed at http://www.bettersolutions.com/word/WOO733/VE241812522.htm, although without the examples shown in the Word 2003 help file.
