second line automatically indents

I'm writing something on Microsoft Word 2003. The first line is indented, and when I continue typing, the next line automatically indents too. If I backspace the indent, it gets rid of the space too. I tried typing something without an indent in the first line, but the second line still gets indented automatically.

How can I fix this?

Answer
Answer

Sounds like the style you are using has an indent in it.  If it is the normal style, just go into the paragraph menu and fix it the way you want it and click on "set as default."  This will change your normal style for future use or just this document, depending on what you select after you hit OK.  If it is another style other than normal you will have to make the indent change in the style menu and update it.  Or, if I remember the Word 2003 layout correctly, make the change manually in the text and update the style by placing your cursor in the style box of the appropriate style and hit enter.  It will ask if you want to update the style to the new formatting.  Say OK.
