LOCAL DOCUMENT OPENS WITH FADED FONTS

Hello!

I have a customer with a strange problem.

Operating system is: windows xp pro.

Office version: 2003

Suddenly when  opening a word document from the local drive it opens with the faded fonts which becoming more and more bold. It does not happen when the document is in an attachment in the mail and is open from there. If it is being saved on the disk the same behavior as above. The disk is o.k no errors.
Any idea what to do?

thanks.

Moshe

How do the documents appear when printed?

Hello Charles!

Thanks for your apply. The problem is only when opening the document. The printing is o.k and after a while the document can also be edited. Only when opening it takes time, that's why i thought that it is a disk problem, but its not.

First, opening documents from email and editing them is one of the best ways I know to lose your work. Instead, from the email, save the document to your hard drive and open it there by double-clicking on it or from within Word.

I have no clue what is going on with your faded fonts. It sounds like Word is taking some time to open.

How is your customer opening these documents?

  • From within Word using File > Open?
  • Double-clicking on their icons from Windows?
  • A link within a Word document?

It sounds as if there is some delay in actually opening Word. There may be a separate instance of Word opening rather than just the document. Ask the customer what happens if, from within Word, they use File > Open to access the documents. Someone else may chip in with a solution, but I don't have one.
