Question

Hide Optional Section link in Print View

I have a form with optional sections. If an optional section is not used, I do not want the "link" (sorry - lacking vocabulary... i.e the link on the form that you would click on to open the optional section) to show up in the Print View. In other words, no evidence of unused optional sections would appear in my print view.

Thanks!

Here is one way to do what you ask.

In your print view only place the Optional Section inside a Section.

Use conditional formatting on the section so that it is hidden unless the Optional Section "Exists" in the main view.

I tested it like this:

Main view: Inserted an Optional Section with a text box inside.

clicked on "Create Print View for this View...".

Inserted a Section.

From Main view copied the Optional Section and pasted it into the Section in the Print View.

The Optional Section was group1 so in the conditional formatting of the Section I set it to "If group1, does not exist, Hide this Control"

I think with "Print View" you mean File > Preview on your form. That's a view that cannot be controlled (other than by actually hiding said sections). I recommend you use a Report instead.

Hi Tom! I somehow missed that this question of mine had replies... sorry, and belated thanks! This question relates to an Infopath form - am I right in thinking you thought I was talking about Access?

Cheers!
