Announcement: Welcome to the updated Office forum

Effective September 10th, Office, Office for Mac*, and Office 365 for business* forums are consolidated into a new, single Office forum category. We are excited for this change to further simplify community support for all Office customers, regardless of version or subscription method. Besides the forums consolidation the forum topics within the Office category were organized first by services, applications, and key topics, next by platform or device, and finally by Office version.

Want more information on these changes? Check out this video, review the FAQ, or join the conversation in the Community Participation Center forum.

We look forward to your Office questions, participation, and expertise in this new forum.

All the uninstalling or update methods do not work for me except this one.

Here's the link about how to revert back to earlier version:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/kb/2770432

The command lines are:

cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

Then:

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.6868.2067

Sign out of iCloud then sign in after the "update" and iCloud will install and sync properly with Outlook.  At least for now until the new update to fix this problem.

Do make sure to switch off Auto Update after the roll back.

I have the exact same problem and am extremely frustrated. I have tried everything recommended and nothing is working.  I have spent hours on the phone with Apple and Microsoft and no help at all. Have you found a fix that works yet?

WORKED FOR ME FINALLY:

1. Downgrade Office to version 16.0.6868.2067:

     a. Get out of Office completely

     b. Right click on Windows Logo (Start) and select Command Prompt(Admin). You will presented a command prompt window.

     c. Key in the following and press ENTER:

          cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

     d. Key in the following and press ENTER:

          officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.6868.2067

     e. Key in the following and press ENTER:

          exit

     f. The download screen should appeared and download version 16.0.6868.2067. Once the screen disappeared, version 16.0.6868.2067 should be installed.

2. Sign out from iCloud

3. Right click on Windows Logo (Start) and select Control Panel. You want to get to where you can change or uninstall programs.

     a. Select Programs and Features if View by is icons. Otherwise, select Programs

     b. Go down to iCloud and select that. Click on Change and repair

4. Do your normal iCloud setup

5. My Outlook 2016 with iCloud integration works again !!!

6. I took one step further and upgrade Office to the latest (16.0.6965.2058) version. iCloud still works.

My second Windows 10 computer got the Anniversary Update last night.  I though everything was ready to avoid the sync problem because Office had been rolled back and held at version 16.0.7070.2033 as described earlier in this thread.  But I was overly optimistic.  The same sync problem occurred anyway.

Several attempted solutions described earlier in this thread didn't work:

  • Uncheck Mail, Contacts,... and then re-check
  • The iCloud add-in was not disabled, as some have reported.

But the simple sign-off workaround from the Apple URL above fixed the problem with minimal fuss:

  1. Close outlook
  2. Open iCloud for Windows settings,
    • remember settings
    • sign off from iCloud
  3. Sign on into iCloud
  4. Restore settings
  5. Start outlook again

I'm skeptical that this alone would have worked with my first computer as detailed earlier in the thread since for that computer I did a full uninstall and reinstall of iCloud without success.  Maybe I needed both the iCloud sign-off and the reversion to Office 16.0.7070.2033 for this to work.  Or maybe there is a better protocol that works for everyone.

My conclusion from this experience and the other two times that Outlook-iCloud sync has been broken in the past few years since Apple got rid of USB sync is that iCloud sync is very brittle.  There must be many thousands of computers where this now broken and a huge amount of time wasted.  What a mess.  Thanks to all who helped solve this for what, for me, was two different ways needed on two different computers.

My remaining question is whether it is now OK to go beyond Office 16.0.7070.2033.  Microsoft's advice at https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/kb/3178906 says "Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available" but I'm skeptical about how diligent they will be at providing information on this issue.
