Ensure that correct Outlook data file is set as default.

Click on Start > Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Properties > Data Files > Select the correct .pst file and click on Set as default.

If the correct .pst file is already set as default then try the steps below:

Right click on Outlook (.exe) > Properties > Compatibility > uncheck all the boxes

To access Outlook (.exe), open the following location:

Windows 7 32bit: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

Windows 7 64bit: C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12

Start>Control Panel does not give a "mail" choice. There is a "Mail (32-bit)" with no "properties" selection that goes to "Mail Setup- Outlook" where there is a "Data Files" option. There are no ".pst" choices and no way to tell which data file is "correct" (or which is "incorrect"). It would really be helpful if your answers actually applied to Windows.

I had this error after removing iCloud when trying to access my Outlook 2007 calendar.

The first few steps above from Mukherjee worked perfectly for me with Win 7 and Outlook 2007. Once in the list of data files, removing the iCloud data file solved the problem.

Thanks.

I removed the icloud data file and was able to then open the calendars.  I opened the icloud control panel and had it set up my calendars, contacts, and tasks for Outlook again.  This seemed to fix the problem for me.

I had to run Command Prompt (admin) which the chat person advised me to do - forget what I had to type in the command, but it worked to change my default mail account.  However, I am still not able to open my contacts and calendar from icloud.  I keep getting the same messages I did for the email account but no way of finding out how to fix it!

I had been running Outlook 2007 on Windows 8 just fine using the icloud calendar sync but when I moved to Windows 10 I got the same error message.  Following Mukherjee's instructions (though they didn't quite reflect my own setup) I found the files and deleted the icloud one then opened the icloud app and it walked me through setting the icloud calendar sync up again - and it worked!  Thanks.
