"Invalid argument" error when attempting to use Linked Table Manager

I'm attempting to change the location of the backend of my database using Linked Table Manager. After selecting the tables and choosing "OK", I'm getting an "Invalid argument" error.

Any suggestions or advice on what is causing this issue?

I seem to be getting similar issues as I open my front-end.

Answer

You can avoid the whole issue by just creating new links. Back up both the front and backend just in case; then open the frontend, holding down the SHIFT key to prevent your startup form from opening.

Go to the Tables tab of the navigator pane, select all the linked tables, take a deep breath and calm yourself, and press Shift-Delete to delete ALL the links.

Then use External Data... Link to create brand new links to the backend. Navigate to the new location of the backend using Network Neighborhood (or your OS's equivalent) rather than mapped drive letters; it's more efficient and lets you use the same frontend even if different users have different drive letters.

You'll need to review your startup form's relinking code I presume.
