How do I stop word from going into "debugger" whenever I try to close a file window?

I just installed OFFICE 2011.

It looks fine, except that in WORD, whenever I try to close a file window, it somehow throws me into this thing called "visual basic debugger."  How do I prevent it from doing that?  I wouldn't think closing a file would be more difficult than opening one, but that seems to be the case...

Answer
You are getting a message because Word's VBA is finding an error in its macro code. There are two possibilities:

  1. You opened the VBA Editor and typed something there. In this case, just open it again (Tools > Macro > Visual Basic Editor) and delete it.
  2. At least one your existing Word files are virus-infected, and the code is not Mac-specific. See my post marked Answer in these instructions:  Word 2011 rendered inoperable by Macros / Visual Basic debugger
