View Windows Missing After Upgrade to Outlook 14.5.0/Can't send email.

jkonton asked on

I just applied the update for Outlook 14.5.0 and I cannot get the view window (the one that shows mailboxes/messages) to display. I also cannot get the calendar to display.

I can bring up the window to send an email, but it doesn't send the email when I click send. There's nothing in the error log.

I tried to create a duplicate Exchange account. In the progress window it says "Sending 0/1" , but in the details, it says that it completed sending 0KB of 0KB and the Sending: and To: fields are blank.

Thanks for any help,

Joe Konton

The answered status icon Answer

You should update to 14.5.1, which should correct the problem.

I'm having the same exact problem - updated and now can't open or see any main windows.

According to the release note, the new version is only supposed to have security fixes for Word :-\
Damaged installations are rare, but it could be the case here.
Before doing anything drastic and reinstalling from scratch, I would still try to launch Outlook pressing the Option key down to rebuild the identity.

I didn't experience the same issue, but in my case, upon first launch, the new version told me the identity was damaged and that it had to quit :-\

I tried rebuilding, but I'm having the same symptoms. Also, when first launched, the View menu is empty. The View menu doesn't populate until I create a new email. When it is populated, selecting Mail or Calendar doesn't load their respective windows. Also, the error log is empty.

I feel better that I am no the only person having this issue. Applied the 14.5.0 updated today and no more outlook. Click on the icon and you get the flash screen (Outlook for Mac) it goes away and outlook never opens. Icon acts like it's running and toolbar is present but when you try to use anything on the toolbar they are blank. Rebooted twice, Rebuilt twice, Called Microsoft they want $100 to work on the issue that they created. Put me on hold then hung up on me.

Tried to do a chat session and the tech was working with me and once I told him what was happening the session ended without notice.

Clearly they have messed up something and know it.

That may be the case but multiple people now having issues with the same thing something has changed. I am more disappointed with the fact that Microsoft first tries to get me to pay $100 to look at this issue then hangs up on me.

Your not alone, same thing here and getting no help from Microsoft!

Same issue on two 10.10.3 systems when moving from 14.4.9 to 14.5.0.

Stopping this from rolling out to other clients until somebody at MS maybe, y'know, tests their releases!

Your asking a lot of them to test first!

Hello Brian,

I am little confused. You have mentioned that the flash screen says Outlook for Mac but I see that you have applied update for Outlook 2011 (14.5). Do you have both Outlook 2011 and Outlook for Mac installed on your Mac machine?

Thanks,

Pawan Kapoor
