Add-In Development

Is there an API to develop Add-Ins for Outlook for Mac?  I'm working on an Add-in for Outlook for Windows and would like to port it to Mac as well.

Thanks,

In addition to AppleScript, you can make Automator actions for Outlook on the Mac. In both cases you can save your scripts as applications.

The AppleScript dictionary is easy enough to discover. Drag the Outlook application icon and drop the Outlook application icon onto the Applescript Editor application icon and the available commands and their syntax will be displayed. If your add-in can be made using these commands, you may indeed be successful in making a Mac version of your add-in. Developer assistance for AppleScript is free from Apple:
http://developer.apple.com/applescript/

To see the commands that you can use in Automator workflows just open the Automator application and read through the Outlook and Finder commands. Interaction with other applications is also available via Automator.
Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.

Outlook for Mac has no plug-in architecture like it's Outlook for Windows counterpart. The only automation you can accomplish is with AppleScript but that's not quite the same thing.

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this feature in future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any Office application.

Hope this helps!
