Hello Windows Insiders!
As part of the Dev Channel build 25284 blog notes, a bug was listed that requires workaround steps for affected users.
To be clear: most users will not be affected by this bug. While this bug affects VPN connections, it will most likely appear for users running VPN in a corporate or enterprise environment. For standard home VPN connections, users should not encounter this bug. Nonetheless, we chose to document it and list this workaround to keep affected users productive.
One more note: If you use this workaround while the bug is present, you will need to "turn the workaround off" once we release a build with the bugfix. Again, this workaround is temporary, and you'll need to disable it once the fix is out. Onward to the details!
Workaround steps:
Click the Start button
Launch the application
(Local Group Policy Editor window will appear)
In the left navigation pane, expand the following path:
In the right pane, double click Configure NetBIOS settings to open a pop-up window for configuration.
Select the Enabled option
In the Options: section, click change Disable NetBIOS name resolution and in the drop-down that appears, select Enable NetBIOS name resolution.
Click Ok.
Double-click Turn off multicast name resolution
Select the Disabled option.
Click Ok
Close the Local Group Policy Editor window
Reboot your computer
Reminder! When a build with the fix for this bug is available, you will need to return to these policies and switch them back to their original states.
Any questions, please post them below!
Thank you as always,
Jason on behalf of the Windows Insider Team
