Question

How do I get IE8 to stop opening new windows and "simply" open a new Tab instead?

I have recently installed Windows 7 and IE8, and I really want it to open new URL's as a "tab" not as a "window". I've searched IE8 help and support but no joy, please help.

Thanks

Answer

I have recently installed Windows 7 and IE8, and I really want it to open new URL's as a "tab" not as a "window". I've searched IE8 help and support but no joy, please help.

In IE8, do the following:

1.  Click on "Tools"

2.  Click on "internet options"

3.  Click on "general"

4.  Near the bottom of the new window, click on "settings" in the "tab" section

5.  In the "Open links from other programs" section, click the box "a new tab in the current window"

That should take care of your problem.
