I have never been able to get zune to see the phone.
 The phone is visible on device manger without errors. &lt;p&gt;I looked through the website and finally decided to subscribe.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Since I am in the UK the plan costs 8.99 per month or around $13.00 or so. The US documentation seemed to indicate that at this price point I get 10 downloads to keep each month. This is a major good value selling point over other services like Spotify.
 Since Zune players were never sold in the UK it means I can transfer thre downloads to my old ipod too.

&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It didn't quite work that way because it turns out my 8.99 plan is the same as the cheaper US 9.99 plan. Basically they did little more than change the dollar sign to the pound sign so it means UK residents are effectively paying 30% more for the service.
 You also dont get the 10 free downloads per month eitherCD . Without the download option I cant create CDs and cant move stuff onto the ipod.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;However you can buy the tracks you want to keep. So I looked at the album pricing and you pay in something called "points". Comparing the points to the price of a real CD&amp;nbsp;once you translate the currency, Zune costs far more than going to the store. It's
 even more expensive than iTunes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So this service&amp;nbsp;doesn't seem to want to compete on price, keeps the songs locked with rights management, it's cheaper &amp;nbsp;to buy albums in the store and only works on WindowsPhone or PCs. It's not hard to understand why Spotify, Deezer and Itunes are the most
 used services......&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Is Microsoft really serious about music?&lt;/p&gt;
