Windows Phone 7.5+ Exchange Server security policy error.

My step father recently started working at a new company. They say officially that they only support iPhones and some select android phones, and not windows phone. But that's garbage, from my understanding, there's no reason that a WP7 can't use their exchange server.

Here's the problem:

I put in the information for his exchange account into the email + accounts settings.

It tries to sync, then comes back and says that I need to set a pin number.

I set a pin number (1111), then try again.

Now it says "blah.blah.com requires that certain security policies be enforced before you can sync your information. Contact a support person or your service provider."

Attempt at a solution:

We called verizon and htc and after working with them for a bit we came to the conclusion that this was happening because WP7 does not support alphanumeric passwords and their exchange server requires you to have a password to unlock your phone that has both numbers and letters.

But that's also garbage, since apparently Microsoft added alphanumeric password support for this exact reason, so people with stricter exchange server password requirements could use their exchange server.

I'm at a loss here, I've tried talking to HTC and Verizon support again, and no dice.

This should work... I want to avoid working with the company's technical support if I can just because I have to do it through my step dad (since I'm not working there obviously) and it'll be messy.

I am running OS Version 8107 on an HTC Trophy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I tried running an activesync test at www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and all of the tests were successful until it got to the ActiveSync stage and I got this:

Attempting the FolderSync command on the Exchange ActiveSync session.

The test of the FolderSync command failed.

well i put a passcode lock on my phone and went to sleep but when i woke up the next morning i forgot what it was and i tried and tried all day and now i have to wait 1004 minutes before i can try the passcode again and i have no idea what it is and i took it to att and they tried to figure it out for about an hour and they said that they didnt know what to do and i contacted lg and they said the same thing and i seen where on windows live you can erase your phone and stuff but my phone is shut off and i need a data connection for that somebody please tell me how to hard reset it

Windows softare team did not need to develope a software from the scratch. Making a late entry to the field, the software should have been the best. Alas! Windows phone software misses some basic features which other players had introduced in their infant stage.

How can microsoft decide that a call should not be recorded?!

For sending/forwarding an sms I need to search and find the name of receiving person each time! There is no list of recently sent list!

The group list of contact names appear with tiles. If it is dipslayed as list more number of contact names can be viewed without tapping the phone.

Hi dear,

I had bought a Lumia 800 few days ago but it seems windows phone is comparatively not as good as iPhone.

I use Safari on iPhone and log in to company outlook web access without any problem everywhere in the world.

But when I use IE on windows phone try to do the same task, it comes to have many problem.

Firstly, when I use IE on Lumia 800 in HK (by mobile or wifi), no matter http or https, after input the username and password only a blank screen appears.

Then, when I travelled to Shenzhen China, I connected with 3G wifi router, only http may work. For https, same as like in HK, just a blank screen appears after username and password are entered.

Really don't understand why a program from Microsoft comes out so many problem on windows phone system.

I think that's why the windows phone may not sell good in the market because most of the comments are negative.

Pls kindly help to convince me to believe Microsoft being a good reputation software firm may fix such little issue that never find in iOS or Andriod.

My phone will tell me to re-synce to my computer and the zune library or it will tell me that the pass is expired. It is not expired and I am using it as I write this message out. It has only occurred recently. I have turned off my phone. Done a soft reset on my phone. Restarted my computer and I still get the same results.

Since Windows Live was deactivated we now have 10 app updates that come up with now defunct ID (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) which offers no other options as it is locked in. Password is rejected, no other options offered anywhere. Ridiculous and absurd action by MS with no alternatives provided. Can't even change to only working email at hotmail.com. Insane. Hi,

I have had my Nokia Lumia 800 stolen. Have had the sim blocked, and will try and get the police to track it using the IMEI no. The phone was locked, and requires a code to be entered for unlocking. Had the following questions:

1) Is there a way to prevent (or delete) the data in the phone from being used (contacts, mail access, etc)?

2) Once a new sim is put in the phone, will the code still need to be entered to unlock and use it, and how easy it is to work around that?

3) Will my mail accounts and contacts be accessible even through the new number?

4) Also, will the new number also show up in my account in 'My phone' on windowsphone.com?

Any help on any of the above questions, or any additional info that could help, is truly appreciated.

How can I transfer contacts organized in different groups, as I have them in google account.

These are sub groups under MyContacts in google account.

I am trying to copy some mp3 podcast files to my WP7 phone. I added a folder which contains mp3 files to the Zune's monitored podcast folder collection and chose the option to align the folders with the Zune folders.

The Podcasts section in the Zune software has two options; get podcasts from the market place or add a favorite podcast which wants a url. How do I get the mp3 files to show in this section or what's the process to copy the files from a Windows 7 machine to the phone?

my nokia lumia 710 is recognised in my friends desktop where he uses windows xp-sp3 after installing the zune software (downloaded from zune.net)

the same mobile is not recognised in my laptop where i am using windows 7-sp1 and all updates done after installing the zune software

the error it is giving "connection error : cannot connect . disconnect,restart,try connect ". tried the possible solutions given and finally i discovered that my mobile is recognised as lumia 710 under portable devices in device manager with the drivers installed version 4.8.2148.0. but as per the possible solutions the version of the drivers should be higher .4.8.2345.0. the version of the zune software which i installed in my lapttop is 4.8.2345.0. so i tried to update the drivers from 4.8.2148.0 to 4.8.2345.0 but in vain. i tried to uninstall the drivers and reinstall the zune software many times but the same thing it is not recognised and the drivers installed were of 4.8.2148.0 version

earlier i used to have nokia 500 i used to connect my nokia store through the same laptop there i found no issues. i uninstalled the nokia store pkg from my laptop which i felt might be obstructing to update the drivers for my lumia 710. all in vain

pl guide me in this regard. pl do not suggest to format my laptop and port xp-sp3 as lot of important data is there in my laptop windows 7-sp1

Talking caller ID not available - Nokia Lumia WP7. Cannot find On-Off switch in Settings > ease of access > Speech for phone accessibility. But the help document says there will be a switch to set On. Wonder why ? Can anybody help to set up this feature. Thanks a lot.

Almost every attachment I get download didn't complete errors. If I set the users up on iPhones or Android or Windows Mobile 6.5, I don't have any attachement issues. I am the Exchange admin and the policy isn't limiting the attachement size.

I have opted out of showing all my linkedin and facebook contacts in my contacts/people list. Of course they are still there so if I want to link a primary contact to a linkedin profile, I can do that, and love this feature.

However I have one problem - when I use voice dial, it still queries linkedin and facebook contacts. A business acquaintance happens to have the same first name as my wife and just recently added her phone number to her linkedin profile. Now, everytime I try to voice dial my wife I have the extra step of clarifying which person I am trying to call. Wondering if there's a way around this, without deleting the linkedin connection.

The question about "How to change the DNS on WP 7.5" Keeps gettting marked as answered and it has not been.

Telling us it can not be done is not the answer to the question, it is an answer but not the correct answer.

So please all you so called MS Shinning stars and experts if the DNS can not be changed then the question remains unanswered.

So just to avoid the nonsense answers, the question is now "When will we be able to change the DNS on WP 7.5"

It's funny I request a feature and post it and all the other techs say come to this site, so I post it here and then you folks give me some bologna answer that its a consumer phone. REALLY who did you think was going to buy it?
