Suddenly I can't send emails on my windows mail of my windows vista. I can receive emails.

When I try to send emails, I get this message.

"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'sonata.mail.plala.or.jp', Sever: 'sonata.mail.plala.or.jp', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E".

I read other threads and have tried changing the SMTP port to 465 and 25, but neither of them worked.

I have always used a Japanese server and a Time Warner Road Runner for cable (on wireless connection) and that combination have always worked fine. But today, I can't send emails.

Yesterday I updated Norton Antivirus, and Windows Update. Maybe that could have caused the problem. Can someone help me please?

Hi I have a pc running win 7, and Laptop running win Vista also i have a WD TV live Media device.

On the Home network the pc is connected to Wireless modem router thru a network cable and the laptop is connected to the router modem wireless. The WD TV live media located in another room.

On the network and sharing centre appears my PC and the laptop with the names e.g JOHN- LAPTOP and the PC KATHY-PC and the WDTVLIVE and the Network Infrastucture(1) netgear DG834 Router

Now my problem is on the Media Devices (2) appears 2 more devices with names KATHY-PC:Owner and the JOHN-LAPTOP:Owner. How can I remove those extra devices from my network as my WDTV Live picks the additional media devices and get confused. I,M desparate to remove them any assistance will be very much appreciated

Hi all,

I am trying to fix this problem on my home computer which my parents use for emails. They use Outlook Express 6, (because my Dad finds Office Outlook too complicated!) and keep getting this error message whenever OE6 is started/trying to send/receive:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Philip Edwards - BT Yahoo! Mail', Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

OE6 keeps downloading the same 3 messages, gets to the 4th and then this error message pops up. It seems to be able to see how many messages it needs to download, because the number its out of i.e. message 2 out of 13, keeps going up.

I have looked on various forums, and none seem to have exact to this problem. As far as I am aware, anti virus software hasn't been updated (its McAfee Security Centre) and they have had that for ages. Internet connects fine, so no issue there.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? Please keep replies simple as, although I am technically minded, I don't understand most of the jargon.

We have a local DNS server that has a strange problem. If a user insert new internet address then the DNS will disconnect that user from internet. So every time user want to insert new internet address he should repair his connection then refresh his browser to see the page.

Vi har problem med vår dator. Problemet visar sig när vi försöker ansluta en enhet via Bluetooth. Vi har försökt med våra telefoner av olika märken, med en skrivare och nu senast med en Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker.

Efter att ha fått hjälp i affären där såväl dator som högtalare har inköpts kan vi numer ansluta enheten men inte få den att låta.

Jag har kört felsökning och installerat de drivrutiner och filer som föreslagits, dock har inte alla kunnat installeras.

Problemet tycks vara något som heter Teredeo Tunneling Adapter och bluetooth kringutrustning. I något fall har felsökaren påpekat att Systemadministratören har lokalt inaktiverat Teredo samt påpekat att tjänsten IP helper körs inte.

Vi känner inte till att detta blivit gjort och vet inte var vi ska gå in på datorn för att åtgärda det.

Fortsatt felsökning kommer tillbaks till Tered

Skulle vara väldigt tacksam om jag kunde få tips på vad jag ska göra för att få bluetooth att fungera.

Frontier bought Verizon and did not continue to provide MSN Explorer/EMail/ features. Recently ordered and received the MSN Premium installaion CD and it won't install and the error message says to contact "support." Hi. I have original Windows 7 s/w. Okay. My Sony Viao has a built-in WIRELESS network adapter, but I don't use the wireless; my PC is connected to the internet via cable. I want to PERMANENTLY disable the wireless adapter. Yes, yes, yes I have used the device manager to 1) uninstall the adapter, 2) disable the adapter, 3) removed the driver. And that will do the trick for the moment, that is until I re-boot the machine. Then the wireless network adapter is re-enabled. I am adept at working with the registry if that is what I have to do. Xbox 360 Extender Connection Problems (Extender Not Found)(Cannot Configure Extender) - Solved

I had a bazillion hours problem trying to reconnect my Xbox 360 as a Media Extender. I had been using it fine for over a year. Suddenly, the other day, it stopped working and I could not get it to connect to my Media Center PC no matter what I tried. I deleted certificates, port forwarded every port known to be associated with the Xbox 360. Nothing worked. I did a repair Win 7 install. Nothing. I did a clean Win 7 install, nothing. I factory reset my networking on the Xbox 360. Everything failed. Then I happened upon one link that worked and figured out a problem with the Xbox 360. I have revised my post hoping to help others with this very frustrating problem that literally took away 36 hours of my life (over the course of a week):

This fix: Microsoft kb 916180 made it so that my Media PC could finally attempt to connect. Apparently, it resets the registry in the Media PC to actually attempt to acquire the Xbox 360 from scratch. But that wasn't my only problem and not why a reinstall didn't work. I think that link will fix most of the problems most people with similar issues have encountered.

The other half of the problem:

I kept going into Network Settings on the Xbox 360 and resetting the network issues to the factory defaults. It finally dawned on me (as my router kept reporting that the Xbox was connected wirelessly, even though I was connected on Cat 5 cable and my Xbox said that I couldn't connect wirelessly because I was on a wired network)...there was something screwed up on the Xbox 360 in the network settings, despite the factory default reset.

The fix: I went into Xbox network settings and did the factory reset. THEN, I disconnected the Cat 5 cable which allowed me to go to the wireless network settings. I did a factory reset within those settings as well. That instantly cleared my problem (even though I was not connected wirelessly, this caused some kind of problem with the Cat 5 connection) and Media Center connected and began streaming.

I hope this helps someone because it was a very odd solution and I'm not sure how I came to that. I never would have guessed that I would have to restore factory settings under BOTH the Wired and Wireless network settings on the Xbox.

Adhoc network setup

I am trying to set up adhoc connection network on my windows vista SP2 laptop. The net connection is through Reliance netconnect. I do every step required for setting up the adhoc network, it shows that it connects, my Ipad detects the wifi, but there is no net access. The signals are sent but nothing is recieved one noticible fault is that I dodt see the "turn on Internet connectivity service" tab upon setting up the adhoc network. I cant figure out what to do.. please help!!!

I have a home network with four computers. I have some folders and files that we want to share. I haveselected those folders and files in each computer and right click on it opening then the Sharing and security tab and checking the Share this folder on the network then clicking apply and OK. However when i try to access those folders or files from another computer in the network I get the \\[Computer name]\[folder or filename] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator of this server to find out if you have access permisions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command . Have increased the value of the IRPStackSize following another Microsoft kb but stil get the same message.

How can I solve this problem so we can share these folders and files among my wife, kids and myself.

OS Win XP Pro SP3 with all its updates current on all computers.

Any help and asisitance will be greatly appreciated

I've got the following two network paths from my notebook (G73jw) to my desktop PC (both running win7)

G73jw.wifi - 192.168.1.78 - router - 192.168.1.71 - IMP.LAN1
G73jw.LAN - 192.168.2.2 - direct cable - 192.168.2.1 - IMP.LAN2

Usually, G73jw is connected only by wifi. Once I need to copy a large amount of data, i need LAN connection ( it's faster: ~70MB/s vs ~10MB/s).
So, I plug in my LAN cable.

As expected, windows is unable to determine better routing to "\\IMP" , it's still "192.168.1.71", it's OK.
(Still, it's easy:
- connection is declared as faster: 1000MB/s vs 270MB/s
- ping is lower
- it's LAN vs WiFi, LAN can't be slower
)
but this is OK, I'm not expecting windows to be this smart (these are different networks, the only thing which is the same is a host name)

Next, I disable my wifi. Now "192.168.1.71" is inaccessible.

Now, the bug:
"ping IMP" in cmd is able to find 192.168.2.1 and communicate with it.
I'm able to see 'IMP' icon in my "Network" folder (it appears when i connect LAN cable and disappears when i disconnect it).
I'm able to connect to browse IMP by typing '\\192.168.2.1', but typing '\\IMP' now produces "windows can not access IMP" error.

Finaly,
i reboot G73jw ->
it's now able to connect to '\\IMP'.

Remote Desktop is fast on one computer and very slow on another

While I'm at work, I use remote desktop to connect to my home computer. I've been doing this for a long time without any issues.

I just finished building my new computer last night and installed a fresh copy of Win 7 Pro x64. When I went to connect to my new computer today via remote desktop, it's really sluggish and choppy. I thought maybe it was just my connection but I tried connecting to an older computer that's also on my home network and it was really smooth and quick. So I have 2 computers on the same network and they have vastly different results when connecting via RDP. The old computer is significantly less powerful than my new one.

Is there something I need to do on my new computer (the server) to speed things up? Maybe some setting I overlooked or forgot to enable due to it being a new installation of windows?

All machines involved, Client and server(s) are running Win 7 Pro x64 and my Remote Desktop Settings are as follows:

Display:

16-bit color

Local Resources:

Remote Audio - do not play

Keyboard - On the Remote Computer

Local Devices - [ ]printers [x]clipboard

Experience

desktop composition

persistent bitmap caching

(all other options unchecked)

I have a router in the basement and several computers connected to it via wall Ethernet connectors. In my office, I have a switch connected to the wall and the desktop and a laptop connected to the switch. The laptop has an Internet connection and the desktop sees the laptop and another computer in the house on the same network -- and vice versa. ipconfig reports "Media disconnected" which obviously isn't true, since the local networking is fine.

At one point, my laptop was having problems connecting, but that went away. Also, this problem with my desktop comes and goes, but mostly I don't have Internet. At one point, turning the computer on its side seemed to help, but no longer. I've tried changing the cable, connecting directly to the wall -- nothing seems to help. Could a hardware issue cause this? I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew. It just keeps telling me that the media is disconnected.

I tried netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt, suggested elsewhere to reset TCP/IP. It didn't help.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have a SBS 2011 and cannot connect to the internet via VERIZON FIOS. The SBS cannot detect the IP addresses and gave an error message. I never get to a screen that allows me to type in the "Router IP Address" or the "Server IP Address". Verizon informed me that their router addres is "192.168.1.1". Upon a further test I added my NETGEAR FS105 switch between the FIOS Router and my 2 PC's and the SBS. Result - conflict of server addresses.
Any suggestions or solutions to this issue?

Replacement motherboard (exactly the same model) now cannot remote desktop w/familiar name

I built an office PC with an ASUS motherboard. After 6 months, the MOBO died and ASUS repalced it with the same model under warranty. Of course, after installing the new board, all MS programs had to get new Installation ID numbers as it assumed a new PC. Re-activation went fine. However, before the replacement, I was able to access this machine (running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit) by using the familiar network name. Now with the new board, I can only remote access by using the IP address.

I have tried to flush the DNS cache on both the client and host machines, but didn't solve the problem. I can access all of the shared folders, so there is no problem with the wireless network connection.

I've checked to ensure that remote desktop is checked which it is.

Is there a way to resolve the problem? Any suggestions or answers are greatly appreciated.

Firewall access denied error 5!!

I have a windows vista system with service pack 1. The firewall is not working. I receive the error 5: access denied. I noticed this when I was trying to set up an ad-hoc network using my laptop as a wifi hotspot. I got the error that ICS could not be set up. when I go to the properties>sharing> and click all to share internet I receive the error "An error accoured while ICS was being enabled. The dependency group or services failed to start. I tried the few of the fixes available but none worked. While I was checking the services.msc Many of the services are not working (including BFE). I get the same error as Error 5: access denied when I try to start them. There might be multiple problems. I would be grateful if someone could help me out.
