Using the currency format in Excel online defaults to the dollar sign. Typing a £ sign at the beginning of a currency value is not recognised as a number. Is there any way the Microsoft Excel web app can be used in the UK?

Hi, I'm new to excel web app and was wondering if there is a way to specify timeout "timer"? I would to keep a session from timing out for longer than it is now. I know its based on activity level but some people who use my sheet would like to leave it for a while and be able to come back to it later on.

I set up SkyDrive to share an Excel document and was initially able to choose either "Edit in Excel" or "Download" options.

Now, neither of these work. "Edit in Excel" gives an error like the path doesn't exist or the file is already open (which it isn't). "Download" gives a completely non-descriptive error like "unable to download." Now, I have to edit in the browser (which sucks!), and I can't download changed versions of the doc.

We have a single file "info.xlsx" that is occasionally edited and uploaded to replace the SkyDrive file.
I'm maintaining an ASP.NET application with a web page and iFrame that points to this file.
I want to make sure that the iFrame always points to the current version of the file.
The iFrame link goes to resource /r/rlidExcelEmbed with values su, Fi, kip, and others.

Do I ever need to change those values if the file name is the same?
If so, is there any way that I can generate those values, perhaps with an API call to get the correct resource values for a specified file?
Ideally I'd like for someone to upload a file to SkyDrive and "press a button" and our website would then point to the new file.
There is the new Live API, but this is a Preview/Beta and not for production. Might that be used to identify the embed resource ID for a specified path/file.

BTW, my client is running SharePoint and we will be using that for deployment of this new Excel-in-webpage functionality. But for now it would be cool to get things working as a technical exercise. I suspect this task (iFrame embedding Excel) will be easier working with a local file.

Related but a little different...

In that URI there is also the ActiveCell value with format "sheetname!cell". Can I use notation to specify sheet[0], since sometime the name of the first sheet changes? I always want to reference the same cell in the first sheet. I can regenerate the URI after updates - and will do this along with mods for above if required.

I did no link these cells, I simply copied a sectin of one spreadsheet to the new one. I have tried everyway to delete the contents.

I'm working with a graph utility called Sigma Plot. I have installed the utility in both PCs I own. After uploading the file, I have used it from Skydrive and saved it. However, the file does not get updated in Skydrive (when I open the same file inside Skydrive, is in its original version). The file does not get saved in the hard drive either (on its original location), but gets saved in a temp folder under Appdata/local/packages and several numbered copies (one for each saving command) appear in this folder. How can I save files directly in the SD cloud?

Additionally, the users would appreciate a "delete" button to erase a file from the skydrive folder.

Hi I have embed a excel sheet in my web page. it has information of the whole class, (marks), I wanted particular region of the excel sheet to be viewed by a particular person who signs as autherized user. i dont want that person to see the marks of the rest of the class, I have embed only particular cells to be seen. But unfortunately there is a link at the bottom of the embeded excel web page to see the whole sheet. Is there a way to remove the link icon and also a way to remove the infomation about the sheet icon at the bottom.

Since yesterday my formulas do not work in Excel.

I opened Google Chrome for Mac OS X and went to the Office Web Apps website and found the Excel file I wanted. I clicked on it and when it opened I clicked on Open in Excel and received the following message:

Google docs has an option to share docs that can be edited by anyone with the link to the doc without having to sign in. I cant seem to find equivalent option in Office web apps. I could share publicly that allows view but requires signing in using Live ID for editing. As I was in a hurry, I ended up using Google docs to setup a shared spreadsheet.

Can anyone inform me of how to link to a cell within the same speadsheet using the hyperlink function?

My file on skydrive is called State File.xlsx and I am trying to link to cell A1 on Sheet 1. Right now I am doing this:

=HYPERLINK("http://[web address of State File].com]","Random")

That does navigate to the speadsheet but it opens a new tab as well and I cannot figure out the syntax to navigate to specific cell on a specific sheet.

Any help would be great.

I have a pricing document in Excel Web app that has about 10 work sheets with it. I have to create a new one each day, so in the past I have been just "Save As" and created a new doc with the same format and renamed it by day. Where i travel I don't always have my hard drive, so I need a way to copy the previous days excel web app document and "save as " a new doc. I Have been trying to add the sum of cells b11:m11 for hours and I can't figure it out.

The cells all will contain both letters and numbers, but I only need to sum the numbers. Each cell has an item and a cost. I need the total for the cost. Items cannot be put in other cell because these are the only cells that contain letters the rest of the sheet is all autosumed together (if that make sense)

I write to inquire if one can link a spreadsheet in a documet to one uploaded to a windows live skydrive folder. Additionally can the document with a spreadsheet in it be emailed to another.

Put another way... I insert a spreadsheet in a word document and email it to another. Is there a way for that emailed document to get updated information from a spreadsheet in a webapp.

For some reason, tonight, after editing one Excel File on my skydrive, I now cannot edit any files posted on my skydrive. It seems I can download them but when I click on the documents to open them, they either time out or throw an error message. I had also received an error message that the file could not be found, but then about 10 minutes later, I was able to download the file.

Is anyone having troubles this evening opening files in their skydrive?

I have a number of files that I share with co-workers that are routinely saved with a new title by all of us on my SkyDrive account in Excel. When others in the office attempted to save a copy of an excel spread sheet, under a new name, today they were not presented with the option. I am able to do it by copying the file in the detail list but not inside the document on the web app. How can they save the file with a new name if they need to?

I am exporting territories that I manually created in MapPoint using zip codes. In the export there are several mistakes. For example zip 07309 belongs to Territory A on my map but when I export it zip 07309 shows up under Territory B incorrectly. I have several examples of this if needed.

For some complicated reason that I don't understand, I've got to use the javascript code for my wordpress site instead of the regular iframe code.

This led me to conclude that I must use a certain plugin called "Hana Code Insert," which seems to claim to do what I need done.

I've got it inserted and now it's asking me to create a new entry. I tried to put the exact javascript code that I was given for my web app but then nothing appears.

When I attempt to set the div's style to 'display:none;' or 'width:0px; height: 0px;', I am unable to execute any of the API methods successfully.
