I've seen the post from the guy from Canada, who was advised to go into General, Language and choose what region he'd relocated to. That doesn't help me.

I lived in Thailand and now back in US. IE8 continues to give results in Thai and Thai isn't even selected as a language anywhere I can see. So what's up? Firefox nor Chrome do this. How to reset IE. Can I remove and reinstall?

I see that it's more related to google searches. Does that mean it's a google problem? How to find out about that?

We are in the area that more sites are being filtered so we could not access our desired webs e.g.sciences televisions, radios, and many other sites.

So would you please guide me to use proxy to access the sites . Of course always when we use a proxy ,the speed of our internet gets very slow.

The reset setting was useful because IE was very slow and now it is fast. I aslo kept the favourites. But now IE is in English and i need to return to French. Do you have any TIPS? Thank you!

I had to reload EI8 and now everytime I start Facebook or browse within Facebook, clicking a link it opens the File Download window and asks me if I want to open or save the file. We have a very old computer my mom turned it on tonight and when she opened up the internet explorer the address bar dissapeared and only come back if u move the mouse over the area where it should be also we can not see the start menu at the bottom of the screen when we have the internet explorer up what can i do this has been driving me nuts all night trying to fix this issue. We have internet explorer 8 ive tried everyting from disabling the tool bars and re in abling them as well as locking the tool bars even tho they were already locked when this started happening PLEASE HELP this is driving us nuts!!

I saw something where there was a "website" available through the browser, but it could only be accessed be computers on that network. It had the address, for example: http://file/document/this.html , and it could be edited by a single person from a data file. How could I go about setting one up? How could I incorporate a database?

Me too. I have this same problem. Running IE8, OS Win XP Pro SP3. CPU Intel D 3.00GHz, RAM 2.0GB.

Reseting by the Microsoft Fix. Same problem. Tried to reset Manually on Internet Options again no luck. Stil the Active Desktop HTML File is no where. Ofcourse the Desktop is all messed up. Click on the destop Properties to try and set it out, it wont take the changes.

Any way to fix this. Thanks all your help and assistnace is highly appreciated.

I cannot access IE8 after repeated installs. I get no error messages or anything stating the install was less than successful. I've employed the suggestions listed by Microsoft like creating new shortcut, change settings in Set Program Access & Defaults or Start Menu but nothing works because I find no listing for Internet Explorer! There are no longer any previous versions. I find references to IE8 all over but no way to open it. Why does this happen with only IE? I have no problems with any other browsers (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

Lost photo when editing webpage through filezilla

I have developed a webpage using Publisher 2007 with ms XP. Webpage is with westnet.com and loaded through filezilla. Pictures and icons saved as jpg and gif files.
downloaded page into new folder created in filezilla to edit
went into publisher to access page to edit
edited page - new text and moved picture from below text to above text. Can't remember whether I did it click and drag or cut and paste.
went into filezilla and uploaded page
successful editing but no photo - there is a square with red cross in corner. I also lost a couple of small gif files which put icons into page.
have edited another page with no photo. Text is ok but the small icons have disappeared.

at a later date in desperation - went into view through ms word and found picture imposed over txt (not happening in publisher file) - is this relevant? Found picture is opened through ms picture manager - is this relevant?

Why does IE 8 say the web site has timed out?

It does this on several websites including Mindjolt; farmville especially. Also, IE 8 says that it cannot connect to certain websites in cluding the two previously mentioned sites. What can I do to correct these problems. These problems do not occurr as often when I use my husbands computer. We both use wifi but different hook ups. I use a net gear plug gadget. You can see I'm no professiona; but I have read and done just about everything to coreect this problem with no luck. Could it have anything to do with the server, lack of memory or a bad wifi hook up?

This website I am using requires me to put a .zip file and upload it. I get the error when I put the zip file name there.

Someone indicated that they believe it may be the security that I have on my IE.

I was using IE7 with browsing history being deleted after every session. Just gone to IE8 and there is history present without connecting to the Internet! Using delete browsing history options have no effect. I use XP. Where are these items stored and how can I remove them?

Had to reinstall Windows XP and know I can not download any service packs or change from Internet Explorer 6 to version 7 a message told me that 7 was not compatable with a service pack on 6 so the instattation would not complete. Also tried Version 8 and a error message said it could not find a point of entry. Tried to download service pack 1 in order to get up to service pack 3. It would not install.

Would appreciate someone's help if possible.

I have the same problem as Ken except it is consistent. Every time I open a url it opens a new window. The sttings are correct as specified. I have only recently reinstalled Windows XP with all the hassle that entails, this is an oddity that I would like to sort out - any ideas please.

I am the same. I am trying to find something to play my AVI files and I downloaded a program called FLV PLAYER with FFDShow|Free Codec pack and I go through all the steps and then get the same message: COMPUTER WON'T DOWNLOAD FLV PLAYER IT SAYS IM NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET

I need help viewing content, private messages, posted on a certain site. It worked before, but now I'm unable to read anything.

The following error codes are given:

2. 'JSON' is undefined

backbone-localstorage.js

I tried compatibility view - no go

The same goes for "developer tools"

I've tried changing "add-on" as well - all is a no go.

This is the first time I've had this problem. The site is important, as I'm freelancing.

I'm not a pc expert, and would welcome some understandable advise.
