Changing Microsoft IME language input default. It doesn't to default to Hiragana in Japanese.

I use both Japanese and English input on a regular basis.  I installed windows 7 on a new computer with an English keyboard and activated Microsoft IME for Japanese but every time I switch from English to Japanese the input mode is japanese alphanumeric and I always have to select hiragana to type in japanese.

Hiragana is already set as the default input mode under IME preferences but it still never comes up first.

This is unbelievably annoying.  Id appreciate it if anyone who knows their way around language input in microsoft could help.

Answer

Hi your mother,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers community.

It will not change by default.

The shortcut keys for the language bar are:
ALT + SHIFT To change the language and
Ctrl + capslock to change to Hiragana.
Alt + capslock to change to Katakana
